Arlington Heights firefighters and paramedics working at the scene of a car vs train crash with injuries at Northwest Highway and Arlington Heights Road Arlington Heights. Report of a vehicle crash with a Metra train at Arlington Heights Road and Northwest Highway. Driver was only occupant of the car, and was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
Incident dispatch was about 6:35 PM.
Arlington Heights Police Department and Metra Police Department. Metra Police Department investigating. Metra trains were stopped in both directions. Sounds like train(s) might be starting to move about 9:27 PM.
Notification (weak on details) from the Arlington Heights Police Department was posted about 47 minutes after the crash occurred. The crash involved mass transit (Metra); and Arlington Heights citizens use Metra for transportation as well as the roadways. The notification from the police department only mentioned a road closure at Arlington Heights Road. However, Evergreen Avenue and Dunton Avenue were also closed at the railroad crossing. Also, Northwest Highway was closed in both directions between Evergreen Avenue and Pine Avenue.

"Due to an ongoing traffic crash investigation, the northbound and southbound lanes of Arlington Heights Rd are closed at Northwest Highway. Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route until further notice."
