5:06 PM ... Mount Prospect firefighters and paramedics working at the scene of an armed barricaded subject/psychiatric emergency in the block of 1000 Lavergne Dr Mount Prospect. Report of male adult in a garage with shots fired. Police activity in the neighborhood. NIPAS and mutual aid police on scene. Many police officers from neighboring communities on scene.

Nearby neighbors advised/ordered to shelter in place via reverse 9-1-1.

"Officers are currently in the 1100 block of Lavergne Drive with an armed and barricaded subject. There is currently heavy police presence in the area. Residents who are impacted by the situation have been notified. Please stay clear of the area to allow officers to focus on the barricaded subject."
