SERIOUS 3-VEHICLE PIN-IN CRASH WITH INJURIES AT NEAR TWIN GARDEN ON ROUTE 173 HARVARD

1:53 AM ... Harvard firefighters and paramedics working at the scene of a crash with injuries at 23017 Route 173 Harvard. Two additional ambulances before arrival based on crash description. Upon arrival 751 reports 3 vehicles involved in a crash with heavy damage and heavy pin-in and requests REACT to the scene. One vehicle had smoke showing. All lanes of Route 173 immediately shut down near scene.

Extrication on two patients; second helicopter placed on standby about 2:04 AM. Second helicopter requested to the scene by 2:08 AM. Second MD requested from Rockford at 2:10 AM.

Extrication completed first on a patient in a truck at 2:20 AM.

Both helicopters at the scene landing zone by Milky Way Park by 2:40 AM.

REACT 1, Flight for Life (from Wisconsin), and MD-1, MD-2(?) assigned to the scene.

Route 173 road closure between Flat Iron Road and Chemung (probably about Oak Street).

Apparently a head-on crash occurred just west of Twin Garden facility and about 3500 feet west of Flat Iron Road. Wreckage is mainly on the south side of Route 173.
