CRASH WITH ENTRAPMENT, EXTENDED EXTRICATION NEAR SPRING GROVE FLYING DRAGONS, 1622 US 12, SPRING GROVE

3:07 PM ... Spring Grove firefighters and paramedics working at the scene of a personal injury crash with entrapment near Spring Grove Flying Dragons, 1622 US 12, Spring Grove. Police on arrival report entrapment. BC18 on arrival reports a crash involving a towable RV trailer in the roadway (RV trailer towed by a black pickup truck). Debris from the wreckage went through the windshield on the driver's side. Ambulance from Fox Lake requested to the scene. Medevac helicopter requested by 3:15 PM. McHenry ambulance requested to the scene by 3:16 PM. Engine with extrication equipment from Fox Lake requested by 3:19 PM -- Fox Lake E222 assigned. Landing zone set up at the Spring Grove Police Station. McHenry ambulance reports refusal for the pickup truck, and is assigned Change of Quarters about 3:30 PM.

Extended extrication reported at 3:34 PM. Flight medics brought up to the scene. Extrication involves impaled crash victim, conscious and alert. Patient extricated about 4:18 PM and up in the air, en route hospital by 4:40 PM.
